Can't help but feel this article's rather silly, and only really here in response to Critique alledging that no government could be worse than Saddam's. Al in all, nteraining but needless.

Can't help but feel this article's rather silly, and only really here in response to Critique alledging that no government could be worse than Saddam's. Al in all, entertaining but needless. Will's assertion that Saddam's Government was the worst thing possible was the trigger for me to write the article, true, but it certainly wasn't just in response to him. There seemed an enormous and overwhelming consensus a year ago, especially in the right wing media, that Saddam was the first and worst dictator in the world since Josef Stalin, and I felt it was high time things were brought into some perspective - if you read the views of pompous idiots like Richard Littlejohn and Peter Hitchens from last October, you'll see what I mean.

Fair enough, but I still think this is the weakest of your articles simply because it doesn't really address any major issues, or work anything particularly informative in, and the opinion polls of the time generally show that not particularly many people were taken in by the nonsense.
The Debunking Al-Qaeda, for example, cuts through the endless spin and propaganda on an issue that is so muddied that even those skeptical of the West's policies have little idea of the truth. Worse than Saddam merely gives voice to what most of us believed anyway, as can be seen from the thread that prompted it.
