In view of the recent management reshuffle, and the fact that all previous complaints have since been resolved, it is now appropriate to replace the old complaints topic.
For those unfamiliar with the complaints procedure, this topic is where anyone (membership or outsiders) can lodge complaints with any aspect of the forum, including, but not limited to, its management, moderation, and membership.

I'd like to complain about the main site (both the original and http://www.thecritique.wordpress.com) having been taken down and the account deleted, respectively, with no notice or warning.
Will, I'd also like to complain about the lack of interaction from you with the rest of us. My question earlier this month about the swedish on the wordpress site went unanswered, and now it reads "This user has elected to delete their account and the content is no longer available". In fact, quite a few of the questions I've asked about the site upgrade/transfer have not been answered by you.
Just what is going on?

I'm bumping this thread because it's not showing on the main index page, and people might miss it. I'd also like to point out that it's been six days since I posted the complaint above, and no response as yet. I'll probably keep doing this once a week until Will gets back to us.
Kind of illustrates my point.

I'd like to second this complaint. Will, would you kindly try and engage in some form of dialogue here? We've seen you logged on to the site a few times in recent months, but you rarely if ever post and you NEVER reply to anything we ask you. Poor show.

Well, that's it been another week, Will. Three weeks and no response, what's the deal?

Gentlemen, I would first like to apologise for my lack of involvement in the site and the delay in bringing you a response to the complaint registered by Modeski.
The reasons for my absence over the past few weeks are numerous, but primarily because of being away in Cornwall on holiday. I feel I must warn you also that I will be away for one week from Thursday 24th August on work experience in Brighton, and so therefore will not be able to contribute.
I appreciate that my contributions to the site have been inadequate for some time, and although I make no attempt to excuse it, I believe it reasonable to account for it.
To turn attention to the alterations that have been made to the site, I had not familiarised myself with the new system for article archiving before the host site was made unavailable, and am therefore unaware of any difficulties that may have compelled such an action. I will, however, be consulting other members of the management team to establish the causes, and I will ensure members are informed of the situation and remedies to come.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank members for their patience and tolerance of the circumstances.
Regards

Well, it's nice to have a contribution. Can we assume you'll make more of an effort in future?

Gentlemen, as promised, I have consulted my fellow managers and am able to inform you of the situation. Hstorm and myself have been unable to definitively establish the reason for the removal of the original wordpress site, but it is plausible that it is attributable to inactivity. To my knowledge, it was not the actions of any editor/manager. As all have probably noticed, the wordpress site has been re-established, and the rebuilding is progressing well, with the majority of articles having been re-submitted. The new site can be found under the URL… thegreatcritique.wordpress.com/Regards. NB. This update is also posted in Admin Announcements: Site updates.

Will, I'm posting this as ANOTHER complaint about your inactivity. You've been away for six weeks, compared to the one that you warned us you would be in Brighton for, and all you've really been able to tell any of us are the things that we told you.
Rather than showing up for a couple of minutes, posting a pompous-sounding 'management letter', and then disappearing again for the next six months, why not contribute something once in a while? We're happy to help manage and moderate the site, but that's not what we're doing here. Myself, Modeski and HStorm are keeping things going here, and you are doing nothing at all other than occasionally swooping in to claim credit for our actions, as if it's all part of some master plan you've been sketching out since day one.
I want to hear some genuine reasons as to why you never show any activity at all, rather than some fluff about how numerous they are. I want to see some form of effort on your part to contribute to the site, which we're all putting an effort into and you don't even seem to be looking at. And I want to know if you're going to continue to term yourself as 'management' when you do bugger all of the sort.

I'd like to second all of that, Will; I am extremely unhappy with things.
I'm going to start two threads tonight. If there is no response to them from you personally (regardless of anyone else), I will cease all my admin activities. I've spoken with Nas about this and we are in complete agreement; we are sick of having to carry the burden for you, especially when you won't even show enough courtesy to keep in touch with everyone about the running of the forum or the blog.

Will, thirding what Nas and HStorm have said.
Look, I understand being busy, I've been relatively quiet on the forums myself for the past three weeks, and it's been really bugging me that I missed a few column deadlines. I've spent a lot of time posting the url of the site in blog comments and other places around the internet, and it's shown in the site stats.
I still regard myself as just a contributor, regardless of "editor" status on the blog. It just seems to me that the rest of us are far more concerned with TC than you are, and that seems wrong. We all have busy lives, but a few minutes here or there to contribute shouldn't be too much to ask.
It also shouldn't be us telling you, rather, the other way around. As TC's manager/founder, It's incumbent that you hold yourself to as high or higher standards than the regular members. In more than two years we're still only at 33 members, about 5 of whom post more than occasionally.
If you want to stand down and leave the site altogether, then please do so, rather than leaving us all speculating as to your whereabouts and intentions.
I have to say, it wouldn't have much of an impact if you were to leave. We put together the blog site with no input from you, and you've not even written anything for it. Now Hstorm has threatened to leave, and he provides most of the impetus for the rest of us to post. If HStorm leaves, Nas will follow suit, and I'm afraid to say I will likely join them. But I really, really don't want to.
Nas, HStorm and I have been involved in many collaborative efforts over the years we've known each other, and together we're keeping this place going, with a few other members making notable contributions, especially people like Timelady and Thanatos, who also put thought and effort in. We could do this elsewhere on our own, but that would largely negate all the hard work that's been put in here.
Please recognise that without more input from you, it is quite likely that we will all just abandon TC and set up shop elsewhere. It would be a crying shame to do so, because there's been a lot of blood, sweat and tears poured into this place since its inception. But it remains a possibility.
Please decide what you want to do.
