I am pleased to say that this forum is slowly edging towards success and increased popularity, which hopefully will come after the site is launched.
I need suggestions to improve this forum, as not many members appear to be posting. Ringmasterrob is helping me with the advertising when the site is launched, but the main problem seems to be development and organization.
The debate and general boards appear to be the same thing, and they are definately going that way. The original idea was use the debating section for contreversial issues such as fox hunting (there's an idea!) where there was fierce argument. The general board was for more 'lighter discussion' where general views are similar.
I have trouble thinking of new issues, and I would like to remind members they are free to create new threads/topics on any issue, so long as they are not stupid (eg. the thread started by jamie300 in the suggestions board).
On a final note please SPREAD THE WORD that this site is soon to be launched and is here to stay.
Another forum update soon as something changes.

I have introduced a new catagory: the 'other' section, which is totally independant of the Political section. It is for anything, and it does not have to be political, critical, or anything constructive. Mike and Rob have suggested a roleplaying game, and that will be in this section. More news as I get it.

Due to problems with a certain member, I have introduced measures to prevent guests from posting. They will now have to sign up to post. Signing up doesn't take long: All you need is 30 seconds and an e-mail address. The measures should stop the influx of junk posts. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please notify me of any problems either by e-mail or IM.
Advantages of signing up:
Organization: Customise your user, including avatars (huge selection now available for all). No need to type your username for every post. Posting is made easy. All you have to do is login when you visit. (little login section on hope page in top right corner). To add to that you will be informed visually if there are any updated topics.
Be officially recognised by the forum members and staff.
Send and recieve Instant Messages that can be sent between members.
Start polls and vote in them.
Rise up the ranks based on posts to become honoured.
Potential administratial position. (MOD or GMOD). Will be needed should the forum firther increase in size.
There are others but I can't think of them. There is a 'Problems' board in the Other section which guests are allowed to post on. It is for any problems with the forum that you encounter. Other than that there is no way of contacting me except by e-mail. (willcole100@yahoo.co.uk)

Due to suggestions from loyal members of this forum, I have decided to remove the brummie / townie section. It is not deleted, just currently available only to mods and admins. I have not deleted it yet, but I will do so soon.
I have decided to do this as it is on the way to becoming an insults section, and it will be out of place on this forum, which is a place for intellectual, professional discussion.

BRUMMIE / TOWNIE BOARD DELETED. Due to many requests from loyal members the contreversial board has been removed from this message board. I can assure you that it will never return.

News Fader: Although I update as regularly as possible, I often fall behind with news headlines.
According to the proboards website, when Proboards version 4 is launched I will be able to assign additonal powers to member groups other than administrators, moderators, and global moderators.
If it is possible, I will give the higher member ranks (according to posts) the ability to change the news fader, so any news that they hear that others would also want to hear, they can add to the fader themselves and share the facts.
If this power is used irresponsibly it will be removed. I am placing trust in members so that the news fader can become the resource for the most recent news.
I will keep you updated on this topic; I do not know the release date for v4. Has not yet been announced.

On the side of spreading the word, the critique forum advertisment and the banner will soon be available (Critique and I are working on them) so once they're done feel free to email us to get yours. We could even arrange a webring with political sites.

Okay all, some more changes, including some very substantial stuff.
Firstly, I've merged the Problems and Site Feedback boards into one; problem-reporting is part of Site Feedback, so I've often wondered whether it was really necessary to have both.
Secondly, I've added a long overdue Newcomers board for newbies to introduce themselves on. Should give them a chance to learn before they start posting that we're just as human as they are!
Thirdly, and far more importantly, if you go to the Wordpress site on the Links board, you should find the first features to be transferred from the old site. They're just some of my old articles, but it's a start. If you have articles that need to be uploaded to there, old or new, please let me know and I will will provide instructions for how you can access and submit to the blog directly. You should be able to keep using it indefinitely from then on, so every time you write something new, you can just submit it straight away, rather than waiting for Admin to find the time.
Go to the newcomers board and put your name on the list for people who would like blog access.
Also, please give us feedback about the layout and appearance of the blog. I can't say I'm very happy with it so far, and it would be nice to have some ideas for how we should rearrange it.

More additions to the blog as the site grows...
We now have some new sections. Opinionated Drivel has been set up to give people a workspace to offer any meaningless ravings about life that they want to, and to hell with needing to make sense or even to spell.
A Reviews category has been added as well. There, some of the forum's reviews of films and books will be archived. If you have book or film review you want added, just post them to a relevant board here, and if we like it, we'll add it to the blog archive.
There's a new section where we'll be uploading the Caption Competition pictures. You can get a sneak peak there of August's picture right now.
As mentioned elsewhere, Modeski's new Australian news section, Downs Under, is now up and running as well.
There are now something like a dozen articles and features uploaded, ready for access. Much more is still to come.
