Ladies and Gents of this fine forum,
After Mekanik's announcement he is leaving the forum then myself, Critique & HStorm (the current management team) have held a meeting to discuss the site's direction from here. The main points of which are as follows:
+ The boards Mekanik moderated are not in any real need of moderation, so rather than replacement we are simply sticking with 3 management team members for the time being. No more will be added to the staff until member numbers have swelled a little more.
+ The article ratings on the front page, especially the very early ones, are becoming increasingly poor reflections of the article's quality. To combat having to re-rate articles every few months we are going to make more use of the article forum. The plan is that for each article someone wishes to rate or comment on then a topic will be made where you can offer a rating out of 5 and a brief (or long) explaination for it. The average rating will be given in the topic's title like so; "Case For War [5/5 Stars]"
+ The HTML site itself is undergoing a total revamp, starting as soon as the workload on myself & Critique eases off a little. We plan to completely change pages, add in lots of new content and give a new colour scheme. However this will be a long process and we're still thinking of what is going where, what the new scheme will be and what new content is to be added. All suggestions are welcome in this topic; thegreatcritic.proboards24.com/index.cgi?board=SuggestionsComplaints&action=display&thread=1103124407.
+ As an incentive for longer term members (how these people will be determined is to be confirmed) then if they take the alignment test at www.politicalcompass.org and send us their result then we will compile them and post them on the site, indicating where we all stand. 'The Critical Compass' so to speak.
Please note, none of this is set in stone. All of what is put here is totally subject to change and so if an idea proves unworkable and we say we can't do it, no one claim that we 'promised' it. Not that anyone is that silly of course, but just a heads up and please, please do not harass us to 'get moving' with implementing any of this, it will be done when we can get it done.
