Nothing is absolute, and although we may like to pretend otherwise, even criminal activity doesn't always meet with our disapproval; sometimes it makes us laugh. So I thought we should have athread where we can place on record all the crimes that have made it into the media that bring a smile to our lips.
Every time someone adds an entry to this thread, other members of the forum should vote marks out of five for how much the roguish consequences make them snigger. _____________________________________________ So let's start with...
David Blunkett!!!! He got ripped off for £9,000 in a bank fraud last year. Apparently the copy of a cheque he wrote for Lloyds/TSB fell into the hands of racketeers who successfully altered the details and got the funds wired to their own account. Shows how effective the Serious And Organised Crime Agency that the Blunketeer set up to fight fraud is at its primary job.
***BOTTOM LINE***
I vote 4 marks out of 5 on the sniggery roguishness scale.

Not very funny in and of itself, only amusing because of the target. 2 out of five.
Hats off to Kimberly Du of Des Moines, Iowa, who decided the best way to get out of her unpaid parking fines was to fake her own death. Amazingly, she managed to get away with it for several months, until she was pulled over for speeding again, where upon she told officers she couldn't get a ticket because "I'm supposed to be dead.".
Four out of five for overzealous, pointless criminality.

How's this one for delicious idiocy.
Willie Herman, of New Reno, was arrested on a breaking and entering charge, but proved his innocence by providing the police with a DNA sample. A good and wise decision for most people, but not for young Willie, who's DNA not only proved he wasn't at the scene of this crime, but place him beyond shadow of a doubt at a murder commited shortly afterwards.
What a great alibi. "But officer, I couldn't have stolen those shoes! I was murdering your mother that evening!"
3 out of 5 for comic (un)genius.

(Actually, the amusing aspect of the Blunkett one is that he was a victim of one of the things he was supposed to be clamping down on.) The crimes don't have to be funny in themselves to qualify for this thread, and who the victim is is a perfectly valid reason for inclusion. One of the main reasons why some crimes are loved by the general public - and also the main reason why I started the thread - is that sometimes the victims deserve it.
Anyway...
Four out of five for the Des Moines one.
Only one out of five for the Willie Herman one, as the crime was boring rubbish. (I'd have given it more, but the only amusing thing about it is the alibi had an ironic consequence, which, by the standards with which you're rating the Blunkett one, is irrelevant...)

Not exactly a crime, this one, but damn close.
A pupil at Arnold Hill School in Nottingham had his drama class interrupted when he was sent a strippergram for his birthday. Apparently his parents booked a singing telegram as a 16th birthday surprise, but got the strippergram by mistake.
The stripper, who was dressed as a policewoman (AWWWW MY GAAAAAAHHHHHD!!!!), performed her act in front of the Year 11 class! _________________________________ ***BOTTOM LINE***
Gotta be 5 out of 5 on the sniggery screw-ups scale.
