Naselus' recent recommendation that people should read Burmese Days got me thinking... how many regulars on this forum have actually read any of Orwell's other work beside the usual suspects (i.e. Nineteen Eighty-Four and Animal Farm)?

None of the options was true of me, so I voted for the closest ("Many of the novels and essays"): I've read Nineteen Eighty-Four, Animal Farm and a large collection of essays entitled Shooting an Elephant.

Quite shamefully, I have only read 1984, but this is only becasue no library in the country seems to have Animal farm ready to loan out! i am interested in where i can aquire some of his papers though.
Any advise would be most appreciated.

Try going into a bookshop. Waterstones are quite likely to have his work.

Actually, Nas, most of Orwell's non-fiction is out of print now. Doesn't mean it'll never be re-released of course, I'm sure it will, but it is very difficult to find in printed form at the moment. A shame, work like The Road To WIgan Pier is outstanding literature in its own right and should be preserved in a proper bound paper edition, not in electronic form or printouts alone.

Oooh. I have read a bit of that at school. Sadly we never did much of it. I can remember we did about two pages. That was the first and last time I have ever seen that book anywhere.
I still need to know where i can source out old Orwell books.

As I say, try the link I put up above. It's not ideal, but even if you can only find them in HTML form that's still better than not being able to read them at all.

Oooh. I have read a bit of that at school. I seem to remember a few paragraphs of it being in the Yr. 9 SATS exam. Is that what you are thinking of Oliver?
