That's the problem, in all the rush about this flash then none of the good stuff is being worked on, new ideas that we WANT to see are being neglected. This is what I was worried would happen due to the conversion.

Please refrain from boring us with your anti-flash rhetoric. I posted to ask for suggestions for other site developments, not for another flash slandering session.

How is the flash version progressing? I have already seen a sample and it seems very good. How long before it is up and running?

Well one way or another we've been brought BACK onto the flash! That's what my point was this time, not that the flash is defiantly BAD but that it is taking away focus from other areas of development such as new articles, the archive section, the pictures and links section's development and other things. It's hard to draw in members when the current HTML version is being virtually ignored. Flash will take some time to complete and members want things to look at and enjoy other than just the forum in between this, if you stop assuming my point is that flash is bad and actually read what I am TRYING to say you will see.

Incorrect. The HTML has been developed a little, in the form of the pictures and links page. There is now a table, with a new picture for viewing. I've had problems uploading it, but it should be up soon.
I admit nothing else is planned for the HTML. The concentration is going into making the flash bigger and better!

Am I hearing right that the flash version of Critique.tk is now online? If so, will someone please give me the link?

The link should be around here somewhere, either in admin announcements or in this forum on the "haul over" topic, just look hard enough, you'll find it.

There is a flash version online as far as I know. Please ask the Mekanik for details. I do not believe that the link is on this forum.

That is what we have so far, yes. I personally like the cogs in the background. There are still many changes to be made, and I would be very grateful for design ideas. Please post in the haulover topic in this board.

I've had an idea for a new board we could open, which would be a place where people can make general information enquiries about the political scene, and even about political history. As opposed to the discussion of opinion that takes place elsewhere on the forum, people could ask questions about things they have no knowledge of and others can provide the information for them. (I for one have spent years studying British political history, so I'm sure I can answer most questions to some degree.)
This is just an idea to keep the perplexed "I-don't-know-anything-about-this-issue" posts out of the debating areas (as that tends to drive things off-topic), while still taking the opportunity to inform everyone.

It sounds like a good idea, and I back it all the way. Prehaps it could be extended in a more general way to cover more than just political issues. The site could gather a database of infomation submitted by members, and it could be accessed by anyone, anywhere. This could pull in members from across the spectrum.

This is a less serious suggestion, but still only a half-joke. It's hysterically funny listening to the paranoid rumours trundling off the FOX News conveyor belt, so how about we start a "Rumours" board, where we can list all the phrophecies of impending doom we hear and read in the media about political corruption and military disaster? We could have a thread for rumours in Iraq, a thread for rumours in the war on terror, a thread for rumours in Palestine/Israel, a thread for rumours of scandals in Westminster, another for Washington etc.
For the most part it'll probably be quite funny, but it will also be genuinely informative finding out how many of the rumours in fact come true.

If we have a 'rumours' board, can we have a 'Bush's Greatest Hits' board where we can list his most hilarious blunders? lines like 'Our enemies will stop at nothing to destory America, but neither will we!' or his Daddy's famous 'sprouts' speech.

I think it was the 'broccoli' speech, not 'sprouts'.

Rumours board seems good. I shall implement it in the 'other' catagory for now.

What was the content of the 'sprouts' speech?

Shortly after Daddy Bush became President he was delivering a speech where he was extolling the virtues of being at the White House and the sense of liberation it gave him. One of the examples he cited was that when he was a kid he was forced by his mommy to eat broccoli.
"I hate broccoli, but when I was a kid my mom forced me to eat it, and now I'm President, so I don't have to eat broccoli anymore! And I won't eat broccoli anymore..." etc. There you are, folks. Republicanism; tough on broccoli, tough on the causes of broccoli...
Thank heaven we had his finger on the nuclear button for four years, eh?

I don't want to think that I'm advertising, but I was in my politics class a couple of days ago, and after we had finished the task in hand (which was, incidentally, to find various policies of the main political parties) we were told to go to some site. Seeing as I am quite a, well, rebellious person in nature, I worked on the task and went to the site at the same time. The site is called "The Politics Compass", and it tells you where you are on the politics scale (or graph in this case). I found to my delight that I am a Left Libertarian, verging towards the centre. I would recommend that you all check this site out. All you have to do is answer six pages of multiple-choice questions about various political jazz, and then it shows you where you are on the compass. You also get to see where all the political parties stand (I was not suprised to see the the Tories are very right wing) and where some famous leaders stood (eg. Hitler, Stalin, Thatcher), and more. It also gives a good deal of information on the"extreme right wing". I reckon we should all do the test and see where we stand. I would be very interested to see where the Mekanik lies on the compass. We could set up a board to post our stances! oh, the site can be found at: www.politicalcompass.org

Ah the policital compass! I actually stumbled on that a few months ago and still have my printout of results somewher. I was fairly close to Ghandi and the Delhi Llama on it though. Don't think we need a whole board for it, it'd be a good idea to start a topic for it in the general board though!

May I ask what the rules of this site are?

Hi Slider, welcome to the forum!
To answer your question, until now we haven't had a set of rules displayed on the site, other than the Proboards terms of Service and common sense. Most major complaints were handled at Admin's discretion, but after a recent incident with the Beliefs topic getting out of hand then we're currently writing a definitive document of the rules which you can expect to see on the site within a couple of weeks. (Time allowing). Other than that hope you enjoy the forum.

Dunno whether you guys would be interested, but I'm making a small political rpg. It's kinda like NationStates, but with only one country. You're all members of Parliament, and get to debate and suggest new bills for the country.
I don't suppose its ok if you guys could set up a board some place so I could tell you guys more about it than tangling up this thread.
